National Museums Scotland
National Museum of Scotland (Chambers Street, Edinburgh)
Explore the nation's rich and colourful history from Scotland's early peoples to the present day. Part of the museum is undergoing an extensive £46m redevelopment and is due to reopen fully in July 2011.
National War Museum (Edinburgh Castle)
The story of Scotland's wartime experiences is told through mementoes, images and military artefacts.
National Museum of Flight (East Fortune, East Lothian)
Home to an extensive collection of aircraft on the country's best preserved First and Second World War airfield. It features two brand new attractions, Fantastic Flight, and Fortunes of War, which bring to life the fascinating story of flight and the historic First World War airfield on which the museum is based.
National Museum of Rural Life (Kittochside, near East Kilbride)
Discover the sights, sounds and smells of a working farm as well as what life was like for country folk in the past.
National Museum of Costume (Shambellie House, near Dumfries)
Investigate the history of fashion and find out what life was like in a Victorian household.

Scottish Opera provide a range of resources and activities to pupils, teachers and schools. As well as workshops with
pre-school, primary and secondary school pupils, it also
runs a CPD programme for teachers. The programme informs and enthuses teachers about the benefits of using music as a creative tool for learning. Singers, composers, playwrights, film animators and drama specialists help teachers develop their creative skills and find new and exciting ways to deliver aspects of the curriculum. Scottish Ballet supports the Curriculum for Excellence through DanceWise, which includes talks for PE, Music, Art & Design, Drama and English classes. Informative and practical twilight and daytime CPD sessions are also available. You can also download free resources from the website. Scottish Book Trust: www.scottishbooktrust.com
Scottish Book Trust offers a wide range of projects and resources for schools. Its programmes provide opportunities for children of any age to engage with books, and they also offer Live Literature Funding for writers, storytellers, playwrights and poets to visit schools, as well as unique CPD opportunities like the upcoming Online Teacher in Residence.

National Theatre of Scotland Learn has created many educational and outreach projects, involving more than 74,000 participants, has connected with over 3000 workshops and worked with over 85 schools across Scotland. Dance Base is Scotland's National Centre for Dance. Located
in Edinburgh's Grassmarket, the award winning building has
four purpose built dance studios available to schools at a competitive rate. A programme of dance activities can be devised to take account of curriculum needs including Health Promoting Schools and The Curriculum For Excellence. Dancers can be booked through Dance Base to deliver a range of styles to children of all ages and abilities. Groups are also able to visit and attend professional dance rehearsals by prior arrangement.
