UWS: providing your CPD needs
Hugh Smith, Head of CPD within the School of Education at UWS, says: "We see ourselves as a key player within the education scene, nationally and internationally. We have developed a niche market and a name for quality online provision." All CPD award bearing provision is online, providing the advantage that participants can study wherever it suits them, and avoid travel costs.
Award bearing courses are available at PGCert, PGDip and MEd level. Programmes include: Artist Teacher; Chartered Teacher; Inclusive Education; and Leadership for Learning. New provision (subject to validation) includes Learning and Teaching and Moving Image Education.
Hugh believes that the UWS ethos, which promotes networking, sharing ideas and experience, fits well with the new Curriculum for Excellence approach, which aims to give all young people a broad general education.
Plans are afoot to create an e-journal which will be launched in September 2011 to coincide with the opening of the new £70 million campus at Ayr and will reach not only teachers and researchers but also leading education policymakers.
