HMRC offer tax support
HM Revenue & Customs (HMRC) is offering people who provide tuition, instruction or coaching a unique time-limited opportunity to bring their tax affairs up-to-date.
Under the scheme, known as the Tax catch up plan, tutors and coaches have until 31 March 2012 to tell HMRC about their outstanding tax for the years up to 5 April 2010 and
pay what they owe.
According to HMRC, those who come forward by the deadline are likely to receive the best possible terms. This means that if they have to pay a penalty, it's unlikely to be more than 20 per cent of the unpaid tax.
And remember, GTC Scotland registration fees and any union registration costs are tax-deductable.
