The new Chief Executive of GTCS is Tony Finn. He replaces Matthew MacIver CBE, who retires in September.
GTCS Convener, May Ferries, said: "I'm very pleased that Tony Finn has been appointed as our new Chief Executive. His depth of experience of Scottish education and as a member of Council in the past will prove invaluable to us as we move into this new phase of our future as an independent regulatory body."
Tony said: "I am delighted to be given this opportunity to lead the GTCS. The Council can be proud of its strong record of promoting and maintaining teacher professionalism. It will be a privilege for me to work with its dedicated staff and committed Council members to secure further achievements in the future."
Tony Finn was formerly Depute Director of Education at Fife Council.
He began his career as a teacher of modern languages, progressing to the post of Head Teacher of St Andrew's High School in Kirkcaldy. He served as a GTCS Council Member from 1991-2001 and has a strong affinity for the work of GTC Scotland as well as a life-long commitment to education in Scotland.
