Don't let a house move cause you another headache

Keeping your registration details with GTCS up to date may be one of those jobs further down the to-do list. But it's worth remembering that failure to do this can lead to you being removed from the register.

Work is going on to provide teachers with quicker and easier ways to update their details, such as the new carrier sheet on this magazine and online facilities via the website. However, ultimate responsibility for the upkeep of personal information remains with the individual.

Avril Barker, Director of Professional Services at GTCS, said: "Our regulations state that we need to have up to date information on file for all registered teachers.

"Removing teachers from the register can lead to problems down the line with employment. It will also take additional time and effort to re-register.

"A number of teachers at any one time have incorrect details on the register. Each runs an increased risk of being removed.

"Everyone has to take personal responsibility for maintaining the information we need."

Teachers can keep GTCS informed of personal details bye-mail,post, telephone or the online MyGTCS facility.
