Welcome to Teaching Scotland. My tenure as editor begins with a new look for the printed magazine, and new content. While Teaching Scotland continues to be driven by the agenda of GTCS, we're hoping we can evolve the magazine to become a more integral platform for the wider profession. In Teaching Scotland, we have a real opportunity to introduce, discuss and debate the issues facing teachers and education. We intend to take full advantage of this.

Competing for your limited time is not going to be easy. While our new approach has been informed by feedback from you, I'm keen to hear from readers how we can evolve the magazine to make sure it is something you want to read.Competing for your limited time is not going to be easy. You will see we have introduced advertising in the printed magazine. This was a carefully considered decision taken to help us offset the costs of production. In these times when we are all being asked to do more with less, we were very conscious that our ambitions should not cost you money! Should our plans succeed, we will use any revenue generated through advertising to reinvest in the magazine, further raising its standard and hopefully its frequency.

I look forward to working with you to develop your magazine in the coming months. In the meantime, I hope you enjoy this issue.
